Kids Say the Darndest Things - NO Bath Time Please
Last week we been hit with some flu or cold (cannot never differentiate), and Matthew has not been himself since then. He would get irritated very easily, change his mind in the last minute what he wants to do and what he does not, and struggling with his constantly running nose.
Couple of nights ago, all day I been reminding Matthew that tonight is a bath time. He has no choice but to wash his stinky feet. He agreed every time with a smile on his face, but do you think he would do it? Let's see.
Its been a long day for all of us. Matthew didn't really want to go sleep and did not want to drink his milk either. Okay we let go. Then time for a bath. Matthew does not want to get undressed, he cries - 'No bath time please.' At some point we just let him cry in his bedroom. He calmed down by himself and came out. We talked, but no not able to convince him. I played with the water, I put some toys - still no, not interested at all. Finally I lured him with some splashing for him to come closer to the bathtub. He came. So we started to talk, and this is after 45 minutes of convincing, some little yelling (which never worked), and talking back and forth. Poor Daddy from all that eventful evening ended up sleeping through the best part of our conversation.
So both of us standing by the bathtub.
'Matthew will you take bath now?' - I asked.
He did not responded, just looked at me.
'Matthew please say yes, Y E S.' - I spelled the word yes for him.
'Yes.' - He answered softly and not very confident.
'Okay Matthew O K A Y?' - I spelled the okay word for him.
'Okay.' - he answered again softly and still not confident.
Matthew is thinking very hard (literally steam is coming out his ears).
We are looking at each other, eye to eye, then suddenly...
'Mommy spell NO.' - Matthew demanded.
Well on the end I gave him bath anyway. I splashed his shirt, so he had no choice but to go inside the bathtub anyway, of course after little fussing. Once in he told me: 'Mommy go do laundry Matthew's shirt'.

Memorable Moments - Unforgettable Wedding Moment Goes To The Dog
![]() |
| White Rose |
So finally we got married after year and a half of planning, and been married for 12 interesting years. My wedding day was beautiful. We had so much fun, and I did not shed a single tear during that day - yes I was that happy. Okay I did some shedding before wedding, as some things didn't go the way I wanted, but then on the end it didn't really matter - it wasn't the flowers I was marrying, it wasn't the dress I was marrying. Beside me being happy, my husband being happy and the rest of the family being happy - one wandering wondering dog was happy too. And the story goes....
I didn't like my so perfect bouquet of flowers florist made me. I wanted something just simple and almost looking like it was hand picked. No she had to do her way. Well during a photo shoot whenever I had a split second time I would shake my flowers to make them look a bit messy. But the florist was good, it was hard to mess them up. I tried and tried, and finally walking on the side walk, pretending to be a star (yeah I had to do that once), beating the bouquet against my dress - hurray finally I lost one rose head. Then, to my surprise, from nowhere - a small white dog shows up, eats the rose head, lifts his/her tail up and walks away happy - a moment I will never forget of all wedding moments. Too bad photographer didn't see this one coming.
....and this is my Valentine story for this year! Its small may be meaningless moment, but been in my head for years.

Go Green - No More Boxer Shorts
Some of you can agree with me that doing laundry to most of us can be a second nature, meaning doing it without thinking. Then if we can do it without thinking, I on the other hand think about something else. I just plan things doing laundry - yes why waste time. So one day, I was washing most of the clothes in the cold water, using cold water detergent - being environmental of course. I was then thinking this is good, saving some energy not using the water heater. My water heater on the other hand sucks, it always accumulates rust water on the bottom of the tank, so instead of white clothes I get shades of of white, but that is not even a story for any day. So to make sure I at least get one post in May on my blog, I will make is short and sweet. I came up with - or may be someone already did - to go green, men should wear briefs instead of boxer shorts. Boxer shorts kind of look more stylish, but forget the style and save the energy - with briefs I can cut my laundry loads in half. But don't you talk to me about G strings for women, because all the strings would get may laundry screwed up by jamming the drum or I probably would have to untangle them one by one, and that would take forever - don't like that!. But then may be if weather permits we all should cut down on clothing. The idea of uniform continues to hover over my head, and is looking better and better every day. Got crazy go green ideas, go for it and let the world know!

Can I Schedule An Appointment To Have My Nails Done – Call to The Body Shop
I am sure we have done stupid things in life that are worth laughing at. I had many and this is one of them. Back in 1998 me and my husband were planning a wedding. We were very conservative trying to negotiate every item we needed as we just spend all our money on the house. We tried to prepay as much as possible – that was important item on our list of all. At that time I was working at the large corporation, had some flexibility to do some of my planning.
Needles to say, I am not very big on make up, pedicures, manicures – but looks like every bride was doing so was I. Bottom line is - I hated it. I remember I came home once from a trial makeover, oh God, I looked like a scare crow. May be it was nice, I just wasn’t too comfortable, so I guess my face was looking not very happy. But that is not the story, however, the make up was scrapped from my list – a lipstick and some powder did the job.
If not make up, then may be I just will have my nails done. Where do I start I thought – yellow pages sounds good. I flipped through and I got to the section, body shop. Have you ever shopped at The Body Shop, I did. Got some creams once. To your surprise, they have cream for every part of your body – may be that is why it is called The Body Shop. I guess calling body shop was a good start. During a lunch time I took yellow pages and got the phone number of my first contender.
- ‘Hello’ – a man answered on the other side of the phone.
- ‘Aha’ – I thought, now man are in this business too, that must be one darn good business then.
With quiet voice, not to disturb co-workers I said:
- ‘I will be getting married in 2 weeks and I would like to have my nails done’. Sudden silence.
- ‘You would like to have your nails done Miss?’ – man repeated.
- ‘Yes, yes’ – thinking he understood me.
Suddenly there is honest laugh on the other side of the phone, and the man replied:
- ‘But Miss, we don’t do nails here, we are a body shop and we fix cars, but Miss if you would like you can drop by and see what we can do’.
He had to rubbed it in.
With embarrassment and trying not to start a further conversation, I apologized and hanged up the phone. For the rest of the day I sat in front of the computer laughing to myself and having trouble concentrating. Hopefully no body saw me laughing, they probably would think I was going insane. After all we had a very busy year at work and almost every one was going insane at the same time.
That night I told my husband-to-be this eventful story, and later in the week I broke the news at the office – we had one good chuckle.

I Told You So!
Here are my thoughts - not very long I hope. Suppose I am on my way for a job interview and even everything went well afterwards - never know may be someone else had even better interview and they will get a job. Statistically it is fifty-fifty rule, I get the job or I don't get the job. And then if there is a population of ten candidates, I only have ten percent chance to get the job. The life does not ends here if I don't get the job, because I can move on and explore other opportunities. Suppose I did get the job. I get home, and first thing I hear, 'I told you so'. I know whoever said this means well, but I think it will be better to say - 'Congratulations, and when do you start?' or 'It felt like you will get this job', I suppose. The flaw I see is this. The person who said 'I told you so', to me at least, is taking a credit.
I don't' have a real conclusion for this one, because I do myself stupid things sometimes because of my ignorance (yes, I am not perfect) and if I listened to someone the stupid thing would have been the right thing, and may be the 'I told you so' phrase is the right for that moment. But I think that the 'I told you so' phrase for kids, should be rephrased to 'Let's try right next time', because as we grow this phrase becomes misused, just like 'ASAP' (as soon as possible) doesn't really mean 'now'. Start from the source.
