Something to Laugh About - Television Is Watching Me

I have not realized that its been few weeks since I posted here. Just got involved in some renovations of My Only Photo blog - and now I am done. However, I will make this post short and sweet just to get some energy flow here. Something I want to make a note of. I had small talk with my mom over the phone, and somehow we started to talk about television. Oh I remember now. When I put Matthew [9 months old] to watch a cartoon, he will not watch. But if I put him front of the News channel, boy he watches. I think I know why? They are talking to him. Then my mom said, never mind listen to this story. When our neighbour got first television, it was after the war. She made this comment, 'Oh my God I didn't clean the house, and the whole world is watching me here'. Its amazing what people thought of the television then. But then get this, the old televisions used to have lamps inside, and I always thought that all the people on TV live there.

  5. LOL :)
I used to dress up and sit in front of the TV when the news started. The lady greeted saying 'Namaskar', and I promptly joined my hands responding 'Namaskar' back to her. (Ofcourse, my mom loves telling this story to everyone)

  6. I bet many people who were the 1st ones to get t.v.'s had no idea of the future of them.

  7. Hey Anna,

LOL I like your mom LOL LOL!
I didn't know that people thought that someone lived inside the TV or that they were being watched by the people inside the screen set LOL...this is funny!

So, Matthew doesn't watch cartoons, eh? One of my nieces did exactly the same thing. I think that kids that spend a lot of time with adults ignore a bit the cartoons...I don't know why (perhaps they are precocious)...

    Great mini post, dear :D!

    Cheers and love to Matthew!

  8. A delightful TV story, Anna. :D I can remember when we had lots of snow on our first black and white TV and could barely watch the tube. Then my father came home from work with different colored strips of cellophane and we had colored snow which was much more exciting. :D

Have a super weekend, dear friend!!!

Matthew is nine months ALREADY! WOW!!! Where did the time go?

    Hugs, JJ

  16. Hey Max, you must be different, lol. You know my father was into TV business so we always saw TV being taken apart, I guess I was hanging out around him too much, lol, but he never told me that, but I think I never asked him about the little people inside the TV, lol.

I think you are right some babies just like people, I guess they know that cartoons are not real, lol, like their toys, but hey they get excited when you give them a spoon.

Max, thanks! And watch out for those little people coming out your tv at night, lol.

    Anna :)

Yes Matthew is 9 months, and going on 10 soon, lol. Thanks for remembering. Anna :)

  21. That is too funny. I never thought before about what the first people to see TV must have thought.

I think you might be right about Matthew. I wonder what he would do with C-SPAN where the talking goes on and on without cuts to stories or ads?

  22. Hi Anna,

"Hey Max, you must be different, lol."

    For sure! lol

"You know my father was into TV business so we always saw TV being taken apart, I guess I was hanging out around him too much, lol, but he never told me that, but I think I never asked him about the little people inside the TV, lol."

Maybe that was one of the reasons why you became an engineer :)!

"I think you are right some babies just like people, I guess they know that cartoons are not real, lol, like their toys, but hey they get excited when you give them a spoon."

Aaah, but all babies have a special relationship with the spoon (don't know why)! Even I (as a baby) had a sparkle in my eyes whenever I'd see a spoon!

"Max, thanks! And watch out for those little people coming out your tv at night, lol."

    Girl, you are welcome!! :D
LOL LOL I will be attentive from now on LOL...

    Cheers
