Kids Say the Darndest Things - Wait A Minute I Have A Big Idea

Daddy taught the little guy about the 'new idea', but Matthew made his own 'big idea'. 'Matthew I hurt my leg.' Matthew with serious face would point his finger upwards (the index finger of course) and reply - 'Wait a minute I have a big idea, let me get a band-aid'. Oh this kind of reply always puts smile on my face.

I tell you lately he not only makes me laugh, but also surprises me. Matthew has big ideas every day. The other day he came to the kitchen with his toy shopping card on his head.
- 'Mommy mommy I am a rocket' - very excited he yells.
- 'Wow that is amazing Matthew' - I commented.
- 'Mommy how do you go up' - he asked looking at me with his big eyes and serious face.
Now, how do you explain thrust to the two year old. Well, this is where mommy says the darnedest thing.
- 'Well Matthew if you make a little stinky with your bum, it may work' - I explained.
Matthew kind of stunned with the answer, looks at me and then.
- 'Brrrrrr brrrrr brrrr' - makes the farting sound and takes off to the living room.
I guess it worked, and I laughed while finishing up washing dishes.

Then this. Seems like Matthew lately did develop slight interest in space explorations. He can very well recognize Earth, Saturn, Mars, Stars and Moon on the picture. As a matter fact, he learned to look for the moon in the sky at nine months and to be one of his first words (mun). So today we sitting together reading and looking through books. Suddenly Matthew looks at me and says, 'Mommy I wanna telescope to see a moon.' May be after all I will have to send Matthew to school soon, especially when asking questions like that. He very well knows that in school he will be learning to 'read, color, write, play, sing' (in his words). According to him he is ready, as he told me this the other day -  'Mommy I am ready to go to school' - while holding a medical toy briefcase on his side. But then he is also ready to go to the 'sandy beach' while walking around with my big pink bag and my shoes on. Just try to picture this.

  7. Anna, your Matthew is adorable:O) Children often have good ideas and we'd learn by them, sometimes. My little daugthers, 4 and 6 years old, love to go to Planetarium to see the sky, the stars, planets....it's very exciting for them:O)
And, you know, as I'm a teacher...if your little man told you that he's ready to go to school...it's true, he wants to go to school!:O)
I give you and your beautiful family a big hug from Rome.

  8. That’s great about Matthew! When many mothers feeding their children by showing the moon and saying a story about it, it’s nice to know mattew interest on space!

Sweet replay to mattew’s rocket query, even it sounds weird! lol :)

  9. Thanks Luly. You know it motivates me even more to go places with Matthew and show him more, every time he gets so excited. And they learn so so fast. 4 and 6 that is fun age too, it good to expose them to those things early on. Will see, may be he is ready for school lol, but I am going to miss him. Thanks for visiting Luly, appreciated, sending hugs your way too.

Jeevan thanks so much for visiting. It it so nice for you to be here. Children love that kind of stuff. About the reply, lol, it sounds weird, you are right. I could have easily told him he needs to fill up gas, but this is all I could come up on the spot, lol, anyway he surprised me with the question too. Thanks again my friend for commenting.

  12. My wife and I raised 4 highly intelligent hyper active kids. Now we are sitting back watching our children raising their highly intelligent hyper active kids. As they say, what comes around goes around, or is it goes around comes around? :-)

  15. Hi Max, thank you my dear. Yes and no about the school, talking about changing his mind every day, lol. However, the day he will be going to school, I think I will cry my eyes out, lol, he is really growing front of our eyes. Not to mention, I noticed that he is little jealous of me when I talk to other children or handle babies, lol. Today when he woke up he said: 'Mommy loves Matthew', nodding his head. He had a little rough evening last night, when I was holding my brother's in law babies (they got twins).

Max dear it is always nice to hear from you. I have decided to comment back here, it is always nice to acknowledge my visitors. Still debating about myonlyphoto, lol.

  18. He truly is a delight Anna, and the love between you shines through every word. I think he, and you, are both very blessed.. and just wait, although it seems hardly possible, it gets even better with every year!

  19. Thanks Shrinky. You are right, but not just every year, lol, for me it is better every day. It is so hard to be away from him sometimes, and this is only when he goes sleep with daddy in the afternoon for few hours, lol. Children are precious, and for sure you know that too. Thanks for dropping by and commenting, it is always nice to hear from you. Anna :)

  20. He sure is ready to learn. Take advantage of this as best as you can. You do not have to wait for school but you can go to a store that sells homeschooling supplies and get started with him. Even after he starts school, I would recommend continuing with some homeschooling outside of school. He is a very smart kiddo and may find school to be less challenging than he needs. I bet even now he could understand thrust, although I admit the little stinky explanation is a good one too!
