My Baby is Showing Affection - Unforgettable Moments

My reflections - unforgettable moments with Matthew.

'The first touch,
The first smile,
The first eye to eye contact,
The first hickey, a hunger call,
The first lick on the face, a wet one,
The first hug, for the bear,
Very shy every time,
Then snuggles to me,
- its all my baby
.'

I was sitting on the sofa and watching Matthew playing. He is now 11 months plus. With his little hands he takes the white Easter bunny and hugs him on the left, then on the right side, and playing shy at the same time. That was so so cute, and I wish I had the video camera, but I knew soon as I get one all will be over. I continued to watch, to my surprise, Matthew is now talking to his prayer duck, of course in his own language. Then I get up and get the camera, but the unforgettable moments are now over. Truly unforgettable.

Earlier today we went to church for Ukrainian Easter Good Friday. It was his third visit to the church. Unfortunately we were not able to take him on regular basis on Sunday before, because of his eating and sleeping schedule, especially that he likes to eat and sleep at the same times as all the church masses. Well on the parking lot we ran into two priests who knew my father and came up to greet him. One of the priests immediately ignored my dad and dived to play with Matthew. Matthew responded by pointing and reaching out to him - next thing the priest is kissing his little hands. Another unforgettable moment.

Matthew started to show true affection around nine months but earlier around six months Matthew had these interesting ways to express hunger. When hungry he would latch to my chin and give me a hickeys. He would also make suction motions with his lips where we though it was hunger, but no he was massaging his gums. But try to explain this to his uncle who insisted that I feed him - I guess he got paranoid when Matthew made a move on him with his lips. Another unforgettable moment to share.

The true affection surfaced when Matthew started to hug his blue plush bear and a big brown bear. It was and still is so cute to watch him as he embraces the big brown Bear's head with his little hands. And then it is nice to watch him when he embraces the small plush bear with his little hands and brings close to his body to hug him. Many many unforgettable moments.

'Matthew can I have kiss kiss' - we would ask. 'Matthew I love you' - we would say all the time. 'Matthew eeee eeee eeee' - we would squeak. And there he goes with his mouth wide open and tongue across my face, a wet wet lick. Unforgettable feeling.

  2. Precious times, Anna. You're taking me back to the days when my young adults were that age. As sweet as they are as newborns, when they begin to show affection and communicate, it is pure magic!

Enjoy these moments. (As though you weren't. Clearly you treasure them.) :-D

  7. How touching! Babies are indeed huge treasures that we are blessed to have around. They are flowers that we nurture and have the satisfaction to see them blooming petal by petal. They offer us unforgettable moments, they remind us of ourselves and they give us satisfaction. I love walking in the park and watch the babies playing. They have such a magical way of playing...with the sand, with the rocks, with their toys, with the birds, with their own hands and fingers, with each other...a magical and most pure way to discover this world step by step.
I love kids and I have always loved them. I've been playing with kids since I can remember.
I'm only 20 but I can't wait to experience this miracle -- the miracle of becoming mother.
Anna -- Matthew is such a beautiful little treasure. And he has huge soulful eyes.
You are lovely, both of you!!

Happy Belated Easter! And thank you for being a faithful reader of my blog!

    Best wishes and many blessings,

    Doina:)

  11. Hey Anna,

Story Blob is all neat and cuter: love it!! :D

Oh, as I read your beautiful text (full of love and tenderness) I recalled my mother (she also likes to talk about when my brother and I were kids...our first gestures, first words, our first emotions etc...and we are in our thirties now LOL).

I am so glad baby Matthew is developing into a fine baby boy (he is growing fast) :D! May God bless him, may God be with him always, and may the Angels look after him!

Hold those moments in your mind forever, Anna, never obliterate them; for they will never return again!

    God bless you!

    Cheers

The priest kissing Matthew's hands brings such an image as does Matthew hugging his toys.

  15. ...my son Matty is now 13. I can still remember similar beautiful moments when he was a baby. The time goes very quickly, but each new age brings something special to love and appreciate. At 13, I still am finding new behavior in him that warms my heart.

  27. Hey Max, thanks for the complement about my blog, you know the older I get, the more I like 'plain and simple'.

Max, you know you have really nice and wonderful mom. You know we came from the North, lol, so the relationship with my parents was much different then, a bit cold, but you know because I didn't have that kind of love, that does not mean that Matthew shouldn't. I will love him always, and remember those precious moments, and more moments to come. Max your brother and you are very lucky. Thumbs up to your mom!

Max thank you so much for your kind words and wishes. I am sure one day he will be able to read that too, and thank you himself.

Max you said: 'Hold those moments in your mind forever, Anna, never obliterate them; for they will never return again!' - yes I will Max, I will.

Max you are precious! Thanks again for being such a good blogger friend. Anna :)
